President Donald Trump has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, criticising Russian President Vladimir Putin for his refusal to engage in meaningful peace talks.

Trump emphasised that the situation in Ukraine is concerning and stated that he is “not happy” with how things are unfolding. In addition to his comments on Ukraine, Trump made it clear that he will not be reducing tariffs on Chinese goods, despite some calls for negotiation.

He reaffirmed his stance that tariffs should remain as leverage to address trade imbalances with China. While Trump’s remarks reflect frustration with both Putin’s actions and China’s trade policies, he also reiterated his commitment to taking a tough stance on both fronts.

This is the moment Israeli fighter jets strike the Sana’a International Airport in Yemen in a massive blitz.

Tensions have been rising between India and Pakistan following a massacre in Indian-administered Kashmir that killed 26 tourists. Pakistan claimed it had "credible intelligence" that India would launch a military strike on Islamabad within 24-36 hours. That timeframe has since passed. India has fired missiles across the border into Pakistani-controlled territory, Pakistani security officials have said.

Afterwards, Pakistan's air force shot down two Indian jets, state-run Pakistan Television reported, quoting Pakistani officials.

Pakistan's information minister Attuallah Tarar has now confirmed this and labelled India as "the aggressor".

Canadian PM Mark Carney has said Canada is "not for sale" as US President Donald Trump insists the country would benefit from becoming the 51st US state.

Relations between the once close allies have been frayed in the wake of Trump's new tariff regime, as well as the comments, but the US president added that Canada's opposition to his proposal will not impact today's discussions.

Trump also said during the meeting that the US will "always" protect Canada.

He also encouraged Carney to think of the US "as a super luxury store" while talking about international trade and added that other countries will come and pay a price, and the US will give them "very good deals".

U.S. and Canadian cardinals received a warm sendoff on Tuesday (May 6) as they departed the Pontifical North American College in Rome ahead of the papal conclave that begins on Wednesday (May 7).
Some of the 133 cardinals expected to enter the Sistine Chapel on Wednesday for the conclave, began checking into two Vatican hotels on Tuesday, where they will be barred from contact with the outside world as they decide who should succeed Pope Francis.
The conclave will start behind the closed doors of the Sistine Chapel on Wednesday afternoon, with all cardinals under the age of 80 able to vote on who should be the next leader of the 1.4-billion-member Church.
The race to succeed Francis, who died last month, is seen as wide open. Although a few names have been cited as possible front-runners, several of the 133 cardinals expected to vote in the conclave have said they do not know who will become the next pope.
