Luc besson el director frances hace una obra muy curiosa, siendo una pelicula de ciencia ficcion diferentes, y donde el gran Bruce Willis hace un papel diferente de tipo duro, una Milla Jovovich en el culmen de su juventud y belleza como Leelo, un personaje del que es casi imposible no enamorarse, y el gran Sir Ian Holm como el bondadoso padre Cornelius.

Stephen King ha expresado en múltiples ocasiones que no le gustó la adaptación de El resplandor (The Shining, 1980) dirigida por Stanley Kubrick, y sus razones se centran en diferencias creativas significativas entre su novela y la película.
